State of Wonder, Edition 1: The Rat Race

The Rat Race is the first edition of State of Wonder, a rotating group show split into ten editions presented by Galerie Anty Warhol. Featuring the work of young emerging and outsider artists born in New York City, State of Wonder encourages the viewer to gradually examine modern life from a variety of perspectives. Show no. 1 is all about the infamous rat race: how does one stand out from the crowd and hustle for more success than the next person? In this exhibition, artists respond to the shock and spontaneity of the big city. This show attempts to examine the absurdities, pressures, and opportunities of a modern life in the city through the weird and wonderful. Artists are encouraged to pursue the unexpected and the surreal.
